they don't get electrocuted because electricity naturally wants to be grounded - as close to the earth as possible. when birds perch on those electric lines, they are not going in the direction that electricity wants to flow (toward the ground); rather, the birds sit on the same plane. thus, electricity will ignore it.
So pretty! I always wonder why birds don't get electrocuted when they're sitting on telephone wires ...
