Ballet and Iron.

This evening we saw a performance at the Houston Ballet called
La Bayadere.
Wow. To be a dancer...

Also today, Claire and Shireen encountered an iron man.
Shireen wanted to be his friend.
Claire wanted to be him.

Road trip part two:
"You're a wreck."

Here we are on the second leg of the journey, leaving Hardrock Hotel, where Pops and I stayed the night before. The shower had three shower heads, I won $300 with rookie luck at Flop Poker, and Dad and I had some definite father-daughter bonding when we enjoyed my win over a milkshake and root beer float.

SO, onward! Here's a shot I got when we were waiting for this train to pass (after being on the road less than five minutes). I was playing with the color feature on my camera and was fortunate enough to get this one (I was on a role with the luck).

Despite the train delay, we started out with high morale, Tom teaching me many things along the way...
I learned all about how bridges are built, that bridges are very important to this area of the country, and that there is some very historically important onramp to a bridge in Louisiana that all engineers know about. I now know many things about bridges that I will probably soon forget.

As the hours wore on, Tom kept his eyes on the road while I played the supportive passenger role.

After some more talk about bridges, and Vietnam, we finally made it!!!
This. Is Houston.
Concrete heaven.

On to the Engers' place!!!
And to see sweet Noah.
Now only one more hour to get across the city...

But oh how the drive was worth it.
Thanks for the miles, Dad-O. :)
